Live-streaming on Zoom on Saturday, September 30 at 5 p.m. ET for FREE; advance registration required
Theater of War Productions, a company that uses classical texts to address contemporary issues, presents a hybrid performance of two tales exploring power and control, domestic violence and family dynamics. Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network, Fleishman Is in Trouble), Maev Beaty (Beau is Afraid) and Araya Mengesha read the “Patient Griselda” from Boccaccio’s 14th-century Decameron. In response, Margaret Atwood performs her story “Impatient Grisleda,” written in 2020. Afterward, director-adapter Bryan Doerries facilitates a guided discussion about the themes raised.

An immersive and cinematic theatrical event, the play chronicles the rise and fall of a family of rich German industrialists who are corrupted by their collaboration with the Nazis. Live-streaming directly from Amsterdam, the show is performed in Dutch but English subtitles will be available. Recommended for ages 16 and up due to nudity and violence.
