Even though in-person theatre and dance are back in full swing, in the name of accessibility we’re continuing to round up performances to watch online from the comfort of home. Our curated list spotlights the five best options to stream this weekend, Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9, for free or at low cost.

Outside In Theatre & Bottle Tree Theatre: I Sell Windows

Los Angeles’ Outside In Theatre is currently presenting an in-person production of Kacie Rogers’ solo show I Sell Windows, but this Sunday’s performance will also be live-streamed to at-home audiences. This story about a young Black woman navigating grief, identity and her job as a window salesperson also features evocative shadow puppetry.

Prisoner C33

Award-winning actor Toby Stephens (Corruption, Die Another Day) stars as two different versions of Oscar Wilde in Stuart Paterson’s solo show Prisoner C33, about the witty 19th-century writer wondering how his life went so wrong as he serves time in prison for being gay. The legendary Trevor Nunn directs this poetic play based on Wilde’s own words.

Wuthering Heights

Coproduced by some of the UK’s most innovative companies, including Wise Children and Bristol Old Vic, this critically acclaimed, rock ‘n’ roll take on Wuthering Heights is directed by visionary theatre-maker Emma Rice (Brief Encounter). A smash in London and at Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse, this stage adaptation of Emily BrontĂ«’s romantic tragedy features a live on-stage band, raucous dancing and heartbreaking performances.

Black Lucy and The Bard

Black Lucy and The Bard is a dance-spoken word hybrid from Nashville Ballet featuring poetry by Caroline Randall Williams and an original score by Grammy winner Rhiannon Giddens. Explore Shakespeare’s romantic life from the perspective of two lovers name-checked in his sonnets: the Dark Lady and the Fair Youth, embodied here by a Black woman and a young man. Williams narrates the piece with passages from her 2015 book Lucy Negro, Redux.
