The Gathering: A Journey to Grace
Last year for one powerful night, legendary Black artists came together for The Gathering: A Collective Sonic Ring Shout. Produced by the National Black Theatre and The Apollo and performed at The Kennedy Center, this musical meditation on our country’s fraught past and present featured performances by Nona Hendryx, Toshi Reagon, Carlos Simon and Joel Thompson. This hourlong documentary shares a behind-the-scenes peek at how this call for justice, joy and collective healing was created.
