National Theatre at Home: Dear Octopus
In 2020, London’s lauded National Theatre launched its own streaming service featuring professional stage captures of its productions. While you can buy a subscription, shows are also available to rent individually. New to the roster is director Emily Burns’ recent revival of Dodie Smith’s 1938 play Dear Octopus, about four generations of one family gathering to celebrate a golden anniversary on the cusp of World War II. Tony winner Lindsay Duncan stars. A 72-hour rental costs $10 and captions are available. It’s just one of many fantastic National Theatre shows you can stream, so be sure to browse the entire list.

The Huntington: Toni Stone
Boston’s celebrated Huntington Theatre recently presented an in-person production of Toni Stone and now you can watch a recording at home. Lydia R. Diamond’s rousing play chronicles the incredible life and career of the title Black athlete, the first woman to play professional baseball alongside men when she joined the Negro American League in 1953.
