Czech National Ballet’s The Little Mermaid
The Czech National Ballet presents a new dance take on Hans Christian Andersen’s enduring favorite The Little Mermaid. Recorded live on stage, this evening-length work features choreography by Jan Kodet set to a score by Czech contemporary composer Zbyněk Matějů.

Summoners Ensemble Theatre: A Christmas Carol
Every December, John Kevin Jones stars in this singular solo adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic mounted at the 19th-century Merchant’s House Museum in the East Village. In this historic setting, he plays Dickens performing all the characters in his ghost tale of redemption, just like the Victorian author did back in the day. If you can’t make it to the in-person production this season, you can stream a recording at home.

Julie Taymor’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Here’s a holiday treat: Julie Taymor’s enchanting mounting of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was recorded live on stage at Brooklyn’s Theatre for a New Audience. Stage stalwarts Tina Benko, David Harewood and Max Casella lead the cast of Shakespeare’s beloved romantic comedy about young lovers and magical sprites crossing paths in the woods. Taymor puts her creative stamp on the classic, which features projections, puppets and more than a dozen children as fairies.
