7 Free Performances with Stage Stars to Watch Today, March 31

With in-person theatre out of commission for the foreseeable future, many performers are sharing their talents online. Below are performances featuring stage stars that you can watch today, Tuesday, March 31, from the comfort of your couch for free.

At 2 p.m. EST, it’s a Frozen movie reunion on Stars in the House! Cast members Santino Fontana, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff, and songwriting spouses Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez will sing and tell stories about collaborating on the Disney juggernaut. This twice daily series hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley supports The Actors Fund, and you can watch on the organization’s YouTube channel.

Dramatists Play Service, a nonprofit organization supporting playwrights, launched its DPS on Air series with four mini-performances, including Hedwig and the Angry Inch writer-performer John Cameron Mitchell reading his own short play Forced, and Younger star Molly Bernard performing excerpts from Kevin Armento’s Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. At 7:30 p.m. EST, the Metropolitan Opera shares its 2007 mounting of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, starring Starring Joyce DiDonato, Juan Diego Flórez and Peter Mattei, and conducted by Maurizio Benini. The production was filmed for the company’s Live in HD series, and is available to watch for 23 hours after the start time at metopera.org. You can still stream yesterday’s opera, Dialogues des Carmélites, until 6:30 p.m. today.

At 8 p.m. EST, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley host a cast reunion for the beloved drama This Is Us on Stars in the House, with cast members Chris Sullivan, Chrissy Metz, Mandy Moore, Susan Kelechi Watson and Ken Olin scheduled to drop by. This twice daily series supports The Actors Fund, and you can watch on the organization’s YouTube channel.

And if you didn’t get to it yesterday, London’s Hampstead Theatre‘s recording of its 2016 production of Mike Bartlett’s Wild, a pitch-black comedy inspired by the Edward Snowden saga, can be viewed anytime between now and Sunday, April 5 on the company’s website for free.
